Political Art

Reading this article i can't help but feeling all kinds of negativeness. Becker is just complaining about how much media and culture i effecting art. The writing is really hard to understand but what i got out of it is that our cultures views and the views we hold that are based off what we see and hear in the media corrupts our ability to create un-biased and un-political art. Rich has some good ideas too. He makes a good point in pointing out how little art looks to politic for support or anything. Art itself tries to seperate from politics, almost like it dicredits art. Rich's idea to get the community involved in art is a good one but possibly more far fetched than thought.l I'd like to see this kind of thing carried out somewhere. I have seen similar kinds of thought carried out in places like philadelphia but i would like to see it more wide spread.
