State of Art; Censorship

So i have heard a whole lot on this issue and have a strong opinion on the subject. I'm actually surprised that it took this long for the issue to be brought up. Now personally i am not a fan of rap/hip hop but i do believe strongly in the rights to create music and express oneself freely. I do think that a lot of the lyrics and such are incredibly inappropriate and could do without. Some might say it is for shock effect and to exadurate certain points. The problem with that though is that its been so overused that it has lost its effect and now its just redundant and seemingly put in there just becasue. In my opinion though i do believe it is each person's own right to say what they want on an album becasue it may be a personal thing. And like one of the articles said, what is offensive to one may not be to another so where is that line drawn.
The whole issue about keeping young kids away from that is a moot point. You are not going to be able to prevent that no matter what in any situation. It is not the record company's responsibility to keep the music from young kids. They do already have the parental advisory tags on the inappropriate ones. But even that, with all the p2p programs, anyone can get any song now with just a simple internet access. It is the parents responsibility to keep music from their kids that they deem inopropriate.
